Adopting and maintaining Chendejyu Shrine, the historic site in Tainan
About Us Chen-Mei Art & Culture Inc. was established on August, 2015. The founder has been concerning himself with charity enterprise related to the indigenous peoples, supporting the minorities in local communities, and facilitating the development of cultural and art groups, in hopes of creating a cultural social enterprise that promotes the indigenous art and culture, revitalizes place-making, and supports young start-ups. In 2016, we supported the establishment of Taipei Indigenous Contemporary Art Gallery (TICA Art Gallery), aiming to offer indigenous artists a professional urban art platform. Through professional curating and narrative, indigenous artists shall have a more active space to articulate. We shall devote ourselves in the integration of all the indigenous art workers countrywide, offering programs and workshops that share professional knowledge of visual art industry as well as marketing incubation.
Mission I. Promoting Taiwan’s indigenous contemporary art
The promotion of art is the primary mission of the social enterprise. We assist indigenous contemporary art workers to get into the industry via the form of business art gallery. Also, combined with the integrated momentum from the industry, the government, and academia, we endeavor to engage in the promotion of indigenous contemporary art at home and abroad in the long run.
II. Providing the indigenous peoples in rural area resources
Among the projects of start-up incubation, there are indigenous mother tongue nursery care promotion and sports promotion in tribes, in hopes of creating sustainable indigenous projects via care for multi-faceted indigenous issues.
III. Adopting and maintaining Chendejyu Shrine, the historic site in Tainan
In regard of historic site adoption and maintenance, we assist in the revitalization of “Chendejyu Shrine“ (Chen’s Ancestral Shrine), a historic site designated by Tainan City, in attempt to re-create a vibrant community through integrating local resources to regenerate the energy of historic sites.

Prospect In recent years, CHEN-MEI team starts contemplating on how to create sustainable solutions for charity enterprises in the long run instead of supports case by case or unilateral ones. Hence, the idea of establishing an incubation institute that runs in a regular basis was thus born. In addition to indigenous incubation projects, we plan to launch a start-up incubator in Tainan in the future. The goal is to mentor the youth along the way of starting-up. Experiences and resources of the founders shall be utilized to lay out a new form of collaboration framework to generate power to facilitate young entrepreneurs and connect local specialties with quality brands, reigniting the vitality of Tainan hand in hand.
Through long-term companionship, potential development, expertise cultivation, and encouragement to entrepreneurship, we anticipate self-reliance via external aids coming into fruition in the end. In the meantime, we encourage institutes (or individuals) that succeed in start-up businesses to join us and help with incubation of younger generation, and continue to give back to the society, so that such heartwarming power can become a virtuous cycle that lasts.
